Hey all! Time really flies. It's almost the 3rd week of July already. I hope everyone is well :) The next YAM activity is on the 17th of July and it is a talk titled Biblical Perspectives on Homosexuality. The speaker for the day is Dr Tan Soo Inn, who is also the director of Graceworks, a training and publishing consultancy committed to promoting spiritual friendship in church and society.

As many of us know, homosexuality is a controversial and much talked about topic in our society. Do you know that the Bible also talks about homosexuality? Come and find out what God says about homosexuality and how to dialogue with homosexuals from within the church and in the secular society with compassion and conviction.

This talk is held at #03-01 on 17 Jul from 7.30-10pm. For more information, please drop us an email at mountcarmel.yam@gmail.com. Hope to see you there!!

YAM Sports Day - 29/05/10

Hey all!!! Last saturday (29th may) was our YAM Sports Day. Thank God for providing for the fine weather, for the space to play and for the great fun we all had. Those of us who came (about 20+ I think) had fun playing captain's ball and ultimate frisbee with one another. It was tiring, but great fun! We have a number of good players in both teams, so the game was intense and exciting :) Tim Chua's really good at defense and Sarah, JC and one of Lynette's friends (I'm sorry I forgot his name) are super good at catching. Looks like people playing against them next time would have to put in more effort! We also had a few new friends who came to join us (2 of Lynette's friends and Ps Dixon's friend), and I'm sure they enjoyed themselves and had fun too.

It was a cool day and there were many people flying their kites in the park. Just check out the photos (above) and you know what I mean. The sky was just filled with so many kites, and there were some fascinating ones like the one that looked like spiderman and the other one that Geri thought was a bird! Haha..

We eventually got tired and took a break after 2 hours of games. We then had drinks, food and good fellowship with one another. Some of us were eating this really delicious er..nonya steam cake thing. You know the coloured steam cakes that you eat with coconut sugar? At that time, we didn't know what it was called (it's actually called smiling steam cake). We only knew that it was delicious and the few of us finished the (er..was it 3 or 4?) packets. Haha..For those of you who are curious as to what I'm talking about, or for those who are interested to bake it, check this out: http://lilyng2000.blogspot.com/2007/03/smiling-steam-cakes.html.

Tim Chua also brought his Monopoly Deal cards and some of us got a chance to play. The game is slightly different from the original Monopoly board game that we normally play, and it needs a bit more strategy, deception and thinking to win. It's exciting because you won't know who's the true winner until the end. Just thinking about the game makes me want to get a set of the cards. Anybody wants to get the ministry a set??? Hahahaha..Just kidding.

With that, we ended the day in prayer to thank God for the wonderful fellowship and for providing us with the opportunity for a day out (with good weather) to play. It was truly a day to relax and bask in the goodness and providence of the Lord. On behalf of the YAM committee, I would like to thank each and everyone of you who came and contributed to the fun that all of us had. For those who did not, I would like to encourage you to come along and join us whenever we have activities. YAM is on every 3rd and 4th saturday evenings (except for the month of June). Our calendar of events for the next month is in the 'calendar of events' link at the top, and will be constantly and regularly updated. The YAM ministry is a platform for young adults (i.e. us) to get to know one another better (within and outside of) our CGs, so do come so that we can also get to know you better and grow together deeper as siblings of God's family :)
