God's living word says in 1 Peter 4: 10-11: "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."
1. YAM RETREAT:
This year's the first year we're holding a getaway just for young adults, so if you're interested in helping to plan for this, we really do need lots of help (administrative, prayer support, leading activity sessions etcetc).
2. CG SHARING:
We know we've got vibrant, growing CGs in YAM - imagine the good that could come of us sharing some of what our own CGs have been blessed with, with everyone else too. So we're inviting all CGs to use this blog or our facebook page to encourage one another with biblical truth (eg from your bible studies) or just good ideas (eg things to do, places to go,great boardgames, chalets to use for CG retreats). Or it would be very helpful if each group could write a review of the bible study book you've just finished using (what was good about it, what sort of groups it might be useful for and so on).
3. PROJECTS:
We want to make YAM more than just about young adults. We want it to be about us reaching out to serve the wider church community (eg Youth, Octopus, KVKR, Nexus, Heartlanders, Missions), or even further afield. If you're already volunteering or serving in any external ministry (eg. Prisons, inter-church projects) which you think could do with young adults' energy and support, or is a great opportunity for Carmel's young adults to serve in, do let us know.
4. USE YOUR GIFTS!
Our young adults are blessed with an amazing range of creative talents - let's use them to the glory of God. Opportunities to serve with these gifts at our various events and activities include:
- Music (worship leading, music fests, carolling)
- Photography (for memories' sake!)
- Sporting (organising games day)
- Web-design and layout (this blog!)
- Writing (post-event reporting and other publicity material)
This is an extremely non-exhaustive list, if you're inspired to serve in any way, again GET IN TOUCH! :)
5. NON YOUNG ADULTS
Just in case any of our older and wiser brothers and sisters from Mt Carmel are reading this, YAM is always looking for mentors. If you've the heart to minister to young adults, there are numerous opportunities for you to play mentor to a CG, or to individuals, or to two or three persons in a CG. We can help put you in touch with those looking for mentors, so do contact us.
